Trim Tax

Bookkeeping That Keeps You CRA-Ready All Year

Clean, reconciled books delivered on a schedule you choose — with a CPA reviewing the numbers, not just a data-entry clerk.

Bookkeeping built for tax, not just for tidiness

Good bookkeeping is the foundation of every tax return, HST filing, loan application and business decision. When the books are late or wrong, the T2 is late, ITCs go unclaimed, the bank asks for statements you cannot produce and a CRA review becomes a crisis.

Trim Tax's bookkeeping team records and reconciles every transaction, tracks GST/HST and input tax credits correctly, and hands clean books to our tax CPAs — so your year-end is faster, your filings are accurate and you always know where you stand.

We work in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Sage, Wave and Excel-based ledgers, and we specialise in rebuilding books from bank and credit-card statements when records have fallen behind. Whether you need monthly management reports or a once-a-year clean-up before the T2, we price by transaction volume, not by the hour.

Financial statements your bank and the CRA will accept

Most private companies need compilation engagement financial statements — the CSRS 4200 package that replaced the Notice to Reader — for the CRA, lenders and shareholders. Some lenders and investors require a review engagement (CSRE 2400) for a higher level of assurance.

Trim Tax prepares both under Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), with ASNPO statements for non-profits and IFRS where required, and we explain to your lender exactly what level of assurance each carries.

Frequently asked questions

Fees depend on monthly transaction volume, number of accounts and complexity (payroll, inventory, multiple currencies). We quote a fixed monthly amount after reviewing a sample of your statements — no hourly surprises.
We rebuild from bank and credit-card statements, reconcile every month, code HST correctly and produce year-end statements so your T2 or T1 can be filed. Most two-year rebuilds are completed within a few weeks of receiving complete statements.
Yes — QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, Sage, Wave and spreadsheet-based ledgers. We can also migrate you to a better fit and set up bank feeds and receipt capture.
Yes. We review the prior file, document any issues we find, correct opening balances and start from a reconciled position. You get a short written summary of what we found.
Bookkeeping records and reconciles transactions; accounting interprets them into financial statements, tax returns and decisions. Trim Tax does both under one roof, so nothing gets lost between the two.
A compilation presents management's numbers in a standard format with no assurance; a review provides limited assurance through inquiry and analysis. Most CCPCs need a compilation; some lenders require a review. We tell you which you need before quoting.
